In 1900, Albert Michael was born in Lucca, Italy to Angelo and Amelia Battaglia. Albert had 6 brothers and sisters: Ada, Gino, Elena, Guido, Maria and Pietro. He and his siblings spent many hours helping his momma make fresh pasta.
Finally, his dream of coming to America had finally come to a reality. The only treasure he brought with him was his momma’s family recipes. He was confident that he could work in a restaurant if he needed work. With a little bit of pocket change and a head full of dreams, Albert arrived in Pittsburgh, PA he worked in a Macaroni Factory. He met and married Mary White in 1929.
They moved to San Francisco & lived in the Excelsior District. They had one son Robert “Bob” who was born in 1931. Albert continued this tradition by teaching Bob to make fresh pasta just the way his momma did.
Albert died suddenly when Bob was 16 years old. Bob began to ride the rodeo circuit under the name “Bob Barnett” until he went into the Marine Corps. In 1956, Bob met and fell in love with Nancy Smith they had three children Katie, Greg and Joan. Bob continued his father’s legacy teaching his children how to make fresh pasta just the way his father taught him to.
Today Greg still keeps the family tradition alive through Saporito Pasta overseeing that they use the same family recipes that his father’s father taught him.

In 1938, the fertile fields and hard-working immigrant families of the San Francisco Bay Area provided the perfect opportunity for Brian’s grandfather, Frank DiNapoli to open Sun Garden Packing Company on Monterey Road in San Jose.
For over 75 years, Frank, his three children, and hundreds of dedicated employees supplied America’s restaurants & grocers with high quality canned fruits & tomatoes harvested from “The Valley of Hearts Delight’.
Upon graduating from San Jose State, Brian joined Sun Garden and for over 22 years help Sun Garden grow and prosper with leadersip positions in production, human resources and sales.
Sun Garden eventually relocated to California’s central valley and sold in 2003, but Brian continues his family’s tradition of utilizing the skill and talents of local labors, the agricultural bounty of Northern California, and state-of-the-art technology of ‘Silicon Valley’ to deliver incredibly delicious fresh pastas to discriminating restaurants and retailers throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

He started working at a macaroni factory. Although, his days were busy, he missed family especially their Sunday dinners.
His Nono and mama would cook all day preparing a feast of fresh pasta.
When he settled down, he continued the family tradition by teaching his son the art of pasta making.
Greg honors his grandfather by sharing the family pasta recipes.

Marie Battaglia was traveling to America from Tricario, Italy when she met and fell in love with Rocco DiNapoli.
They started DiNapoli packing company 75 years ago. Their son, Frank taught his children and his grandchildren the canning business. Brian and Greg, introduced by mutual friends, hit it off immediately and had no idea they were distant cousins.
